Just purchased the Waring Dual Waffle Maker from Amazon.Before receiving the unit, I poured over several Amazon reviews regarding different brands of Belgium Waffle Mix. I really wanted the best tasting mix that could be had.The thing that turned me off about most of the mixes was the fact I had to add eggs with oil or melted butter. I had hoped that there would be something a little more simpler to put together in a hurry without worrying about whether I had extra food items in my refrigerator.The Amazon reviews for Hungry Jack Belgium Waffle Mix were very good. Some said it was the best tasting waffles they have ever had after trying several other mixes. You can confirm these claims by reading reviews on the single box product.So, I took a chance and ordered the 2-box combo of Hungry Jack. It arrived at my home in perfect condition. No problems with the expiration date -- I did not receive old product.Yes, it's as simple as measuring the mix and adding water. I used the 2-3 Waffles measurement. It barely made 2 waffles. Granted, I did fill the first Waffle grill to capacity, so I came up a wee bit short on the second. However, it's safe to say, you'll get two nicely sized waffles out of this measurement.The taste? Wow! I can't see how using the other mixes that require the addition of eggs and butter to be any better than this. The waffle was perfectly cooked -- crisp on the outside and fluffy inside. It had a nice, sweet, vanilla-ish taste. I would go as far as saying it's on par with the best waffles I have eaten.So, yes, you can get outstanding waffles from a mix that just requires water. I am still sitting here, an hour after digesting, reflecting upon how great my first batch of waffles tasted.Now, I should warn that a box goes very fast. Just making two waffles, I went through 1/4 of the box, if not more. If you have a large family or plan to make waffles often, one box will not last you long. I am glad I went with two boxes.
