Description

Product Description Easily brew up to 12 cups of great-tasting coffee with this 24-hour fully programmable coffeemaker. The unit comes equipped with a built-in burr grinder, which automatically grinds beans right before brewing, and its grind-control function makes it easy to program the amount of coffee to grind--from 2 to 12 cups. In addition, its strength selector allows for choosing from strong, medium, or mild coffee. The unit's bean hopper holds up to a half pound of beans and comes with a sealed lid to prevent moisture. Other highlights include automatic shut-off after brewing, a grind-off option, and an integrated 2- to 4-cup feature, as well as a Gold tone commercial-style permanent filter and charcoal water filter to remove impurities, and a brew-pause function for sneaking a cup midbrew. A 12-cup (5 ounces each) double-wall insulated thermal carafe comes included, which seals in heat and freshness so the last cup tastes as good as the first. The coffeemaker measures 10-2/3 by 8-4/9 by 16-1/4 inches and carries a three-year limited warranty. From the ManufacturerThe Cuisinart DGB-900BC Fully Automatic Burr Grind & Brew Thermal Coffeemaker The Cuisinart Burr Grind & Brew Thermal Coffeemaker The burr mill grinder in the new Fully Automatic Burr Grind & Brew Thermal Coffeemaker is responsible for the superior coffee flavor that you can experience. Add to that the pleasure of choosing the flavor strength you like best, easy-to-use controls, and a thermal carafe that keeps coffee hot and fresh for hours and you'll understand why we say this Cuisinart coffeemaker is a grind above the rest. The Quest for a Perfect EspressoIt is generally agreed that there are four basic elements critical to the perfect cup: Element 1. Water: Coffee is 98% water. Often overlooked, the quality of the water is as important as the quality of the coffee. A good rule of thumb is that if your water doesn't taste good from the tap, it won't taste any better in your coffee. That's why Cuisinart has added a water filter to the Fully Automatic Burr Grind & Brew Coffeemaker. The charcoal water filter removes chlorine, bad tastes and odors, for the purest cup of coffee every time. Element 2. Coffee: While the bulk of the liquid is water, all of the flavor should be from the coffee. To achieve the same great quality of coffee you receive at a coffee bar, you need to use the same quality beans. Buy the beans fresh and whole, only about a two weeks' supply at a time for maximum freshness. Once the coffee bean is broken, its flavor degrades very quickly. That's why the Fully Automatic Burr Grind & Brew Coffeemaker grinds your coffee just prior to brewing. If it is not practical to buy small supplies, we recommend you separate larger amounts of beans into one to two week portions immediately after purchase, and freeze them in airtight containers. The best way to maximize freshness is to minimize exposure to air, light and moisture. So, once beans have been removed from the freezer, maintain them in a sealed container at room temperature, since damaging condensation occurs every time the beans are removed from the freezer or refrigerator. Note that some coffee experts advise against freezing dark-roast beans, because freezing can cause the oils to coagulate. Other experts disagree. We suggest you experiment and decide yourself. We recommend keeping the hopper at least half way full. Be sure that you have sufficient amount of beans in your hopper for the amount of coffee you intend to brew. Although it is preferable to use fresh, whole beans, you can make coffee in the coffeemaker using pre-ground beans. To do so, turn off the grinder by pressing the Grind Off button before turning on the unit. It is suggested to use 1 level scoop of ground coffee per cup and adjust the amount to your taste. The maximum capacity for ground coffee is 16 level scoops, using either a paper or permanent filter. Exceeding this amount may cause overflow. Element 3. Grind: The grind of the coffee is critical for proper flavor extraction. If the grind is too fine, over extraction and bitterness will result. Too fine a grind may also clog the filter. If the grind is too coarse, the water will pass through too quickly and the desired flavors will not be extracted. The Fully Automatic Burr Grind & Brew Coffeemaker is preset for a medium grind, the optimal grind for this type of coffeemaker. Element 4. Proportion: The Fully Automatic Burr Grind & Brew Coffeemaker makes up to twelve cups of (54 ounces) of coffee. Making Coffee with Whole Beans 12-cup thermal caraffe Fill the Water Reservoir: Open the reservoir lid. Pour the desired amount of water in the reservoir using the water level window indicator. Close the reservoir lid. Note: Do not exceed the 12-cup line; doing so may cause the carafe to overflow. Add Beans: Lift the hopper lid, using the recess on either side. Fill the hopper with beans. It is recommended keeping the hopper at least halfway full. Be sure that you have a sufficient amount of beans in your hopper for the amount of coffee you intend to brew (maximum capacity is 1/2-pound Do not over-pack the hopper. Over-packing may result in jamming the grinder.) For easy filling, the hopper container can be taken out by turning the hopper container release knob to the unlock position. Note: Do not put any water in the unit once the hopper container has been removed. If the water gets into the grinder motor, the motor may become damaged and may malfunction. Put hopper lid back in place. Lock Hopper: If you have removed the hopper from the unit, be sure that the hopper container release knob is in the unlocked position and place the hopper container back in the unit. Turn the knob to locked position. This unit is equipped with a safety interlock system. The unit will not grind if the hopper container is not in place. If you try to turn on the unit for grinding with the hopper out of place, the unit will beep continuously until the missing part is installed. The brewing process can be restarted by pressing the On button. Restarting the process will not affect coffee results. Insert Coffee Filter: Open filter door by pressing filter basket door release button. Remove filter basket cover and place a #4 basket paper filter or Cuisinart's commercial style permanent filter in the basket. The unit is equipped with a safety interlock system. The units will not operate if the filter basket cover or filter basket are not in place or if the filter door is not closed. If you try to turn the unit on while the filter compartment is out of place, the unit will beep continuously until the missing part(s) are installed. The unit will automatically adjust for low cup settings.Press the Strength Control button to set coffee strength. MILD, MED or STRONG will show on the LCD display. The coffeemaker will begin brewing at the programmed time.During and After Brewing: The Brew Pause feature allows you to remove the carafe from the resting plate during mid-brew. The brewing process does not stop during this period; only the flow of coffee from the basket stops. Do not remove the carafe for longer than 20 seconds or the coffee may overflow the basket. While Cuisinart offers this feature, it is not recommended that you pour coffee before the cycle has reached completion, since the coffee brewed at the beginning of the cycle has a flavor profile which is very different from the coffee made at the end of the cycle. Removing the cup during the brewing cycle will alter the flavor of the finished pot. When the brewing cycle is completed, five beeps will sound. Coffee will continue to stream from the filer for several seconds. After brewing, the unit will automatically shut itself off. The thermal carafe will keep the coffee hot for hours. If you want a coffee maker with all the bells and whistles, just buy this one. It's expensive but totally worth it for something I use so often. (I brew at least two pots of coffee a day). This is my second one of these coffee makers. My first lasted 5 years before it just wouldn't pump the water.First the good: It has an easy-to-set timer, adjustable grind setting, the pot keeps the coffee hot and it has a burr grinder. It's got every feature I wanted in a coffee maker. The bad: it's a pain to fill the water tank with the coffee pot. Either plan on using a water pitcher, or if it's close enough your sink sprayer. This coffee maker is tall. It fits under my upper cabinets with about an inch to spare, but plan on buying one of those really flat (less than 1/2 inch tall) small appliance rolling pull out trays so that you can access the hopper and the water tank and then push it out of the way. The view window of the water level is on the right hand side of the machine. You need to be able to see it to know when to stop filling (you can overfill - there's a scale of how much water to fill based on how many cups you're brewing). But if you want to place it so the right side is against a wall, that will be a problem. The hopper only holds 1/2 lb of beans. But that's okay, by the time you use a half pound, you'll need to clean out the burr grinder anyway. If your coffee beans are more oily, you'll be cleaning it out way more often than that. The auto stop feature so you can pull out and pour the first cup is kinda flimsy, it's stronger on this one than on my original one, but if it breaks, who cares, you set the timer to brew the coffee before you got up, right? The informational: It takes 10 minutes to brew a full pot of coffee, set your timer accordingly if you want it right when you get up. The grinder on my new version is quieter than the old one, which is good, the old one was loud, but this one doesn't wake me up. Some folks complain that the carafe has a leak or drip. If it does that, thanks to another reviewer who pointed out that if you clean and dry the carafe, and then every month or so take off the lid of the carafe, dip your finger in some vegetable or olive oil and run your finger around the plastic and screw the lid back together it won't drip. It's not enough oil to affect the coffee, it just helps form a seal so it doesn't drip. Conclusion: I totally think it's worth the money if you estimate the cost of using one for the 5 years it seems to last. If you're a regular coffee drinker and can stand the initial price, it's very worth it. Thanks to this machine my husband has lost his drive-through coffee habit entirely and bought a thermos to take extra coffee with him.I've been using a French press for years and am accustomed to the process that involves, plus the richness of flavor from a typical blade grinder. I bought the Cuisinart for convenience. I wanted something I could program to make coffee for the morning, use fresh beans, stay heated for a couple of hours or so, and make more than a couple of cups worth of coffee. I drink coffee all day and usually end up making at least two runs of French press coffee. After many years of cleaning the pot, grinding beans, and heating water multiple times a day, I wanted to see how far coffee makers had progressed. At $300, I had really high hopes for this coffee maker. And after a week of daily use, here are my thoughts. It's not bad, but it's not $300 good. Maybe the convenience of it all will be a welcome change after some time and I'll get used to the changes, but right now I'm not truly satisfied. What's good? It is convenient. It is programmable like a typical coffee maker. No advanced programming, but you can set it to run in the future. The recommendation in the instruction manual says to unplug it every time you want to clean the parts. But there's no internal battery to remember your clock or program settings when the plug is disconnected (or the power goes out). So honestly, no one's going to unplug this every time. That feels like a miss to me.Cleaning is fairly simple, and I appreciate the metal coffee basket. I'm thankful to not dump extra paper into the compost every time I want to make coffee. It's easy enough to clean everything by running it under water in the sink. Much easier to clean in my opinion than a French press. It does grind beans. I like being able to put in a good amount of beans and have them stay there. It's been a week and I still haven't needed to refill the bean hopper. What's not so great? The burr grinder is very loud. How loud? It was noticeable enough that I downloaded a noise level app. Would you believe 88 dBA over the course of 30 seconds? I don't know how accurate that is. But it's loud enough that everyone in my family leaves the room. This has been one of the most disappointing parts of the coffee maker. The electric blade grinder I was using for the French press is loud and I was hoping the one in the coffee maker would be an improvement. Call me naive, I guess. Either I haven't been around burr grinders long enough to know what to expect, or this one just sucks. Or maybe it's supposed to be quiet and I got a dud. I don't know. All I do know is that it's loud enough to wake me up from sleep. Indeed, I was looking forward to having coffee ready to go in the morning, but I wasn't expecting to use this as an alarm clock. And that, of course, negates the usefulness of the programming feature because now I have to decide each evening if I want to wait and make coffee after I wake up, or risk having this thing wake up my family. Finally, the flavor. It's... fine. Even on the strongest flavor setting with the bean level cranked up higher than the amount of coffee I plan to make, the strength of the flavor is... well, it's there. I can taste that it is, indeed, coffee. Like I said, I was used to the strength of flavor that comes from French press. Maybe after a while I won't notice so much. The thing is, part of the selling point of a burr grinder is that it's supposed to make a better cup of coffee. So far, I'm unimpressed.I'm not so unimpressed that it makes we want to clean it all off, box it up, and return it. And that's another part that makes me upset. I'm probably just partly angry at myself for ordering something like this online vs. going to a store where I could have returned it simply and easily and gotten something else.Anyway, cheers.I believe I made the right choice based on the taste of the coffee it makes and ease of making it. I have used grinder/coffee maker combos before but I can definitely tell the difference in the flavor of my coffee with the burr grinder used in this model. I have no problems with the cleaning and care of this coffee maker like the other reviews I have read on it. It’s not much different than the last grinder/coffee maker combo I owned. Now, what I DO have a problem with is the stainless steel carafe I chose with this model.I’m not sure what the engineer was thinking when they designed this pot. It has to be the most awkward and annoying design I have ever used to pour a cup. There is a rim built inside the pot that causes you to have to literally turn the carafe UPSIDE DOWN to pour a cup of coffee. Not sure what the reason for the rim is but it’s stupid.Other than that, I’m happy. If you choose this model, I suggest getting the glass carafe.I assume it is built like a normal coffee pot that pours with ease.We replaced our old grind and brew which we loved but it was a lot of work. With our old system we needed to measure carefully and disassemble and clean the grinding system daily. Our new coffee maker requires very little, coffee measurement is precise and repeatable. Cleaning is simple - just empty and rinse the basket and pot then add water and you are ready to go. Coffee is excellent and the system can be adjusted to taste. It was a little pricey but we use it every day so we felt comfortable with the splurge. Considero Que Es Una De Las Mejores Que Para Servicio Del Hogar Podemos Adquirir.De Fácil Programación Y Manejo.......
