Not actually sure this is 100% cotton, felt synthetic , very static, washed it straight as smelt slightly,, tried it on first fitted well light weight not pure white, more like an off white. Anyway it shrunk , and difficult to keep closed, if I ever opened the front door I”d be arrested for indecent exposure. ReturnedThis is a very nice dressing gown and excellent for the summer months. One huge problem, however, is that on opening the parcel the smell of the fabric was so awful that I had to wash the gown before wearing. Surely, the manufacturer or the retailer can solve this problem. I was very disappointed and will think twice before ordering any more items from this Iris & LilleyNice but shrinks significantly in the wash. I would go up one or two sizes if you want a nice roomy fit and the robe to close over your legs instead of flapping open.I initially ordered the pink, which looked like a coral pink on the website, but when it came it was more of a mauve pink which didn't suit my colouring at all. I returned it and bought the white one - no trouble at all. the robe is lightweight but has enough thickness to give a little warmth against the chill of air conditioning (I bought it for a holiday). Nice and soft, very comfortable. It washes well.I can't comment on absorbancy as I don't use it when wet.I needed a lightweight dressing gown that would not take up too much room when packed. This one fits the bill perfectly. Although lightweight it is warm and just the right length. Very happy with my purchase.
