The Backcountry Iron enameled cast iron braiser is paired with a lid and built to last! Big enough to fit your roasts, casseroles, and even Thanksgiving marshmallow yams. Its roomy 2.25 quarts can be used for sauces, gravies, potatoes, rolls, you name it. Bake it, boil it, or braise it, our enameled cast iron cookware is up to the challenge, providing even heating and superior searing! Our Story: Backcountry Iron is a small artisan company of foodies, home cooks, and professional chefs. We are passionate about great food and that drove us to create our own cast iron cookware – its versatility, heat retention, and ease-of-use made cast iron an obvious choice for us. We strive to design and manufacture timeless, high quality cast iron cookware that will last generations.

Features

Backcountry Iron’s colorful enamel finish 2 quart braiser distributes heat evenly for superior browning and searing to provide an elite cooking experience. Our Desert Ruby Red porcelain coating offers a great vintage look! This medium braiser has a diameter of 10.25 inches and holds 2.25 quarts. Similar size as a standard 10-1/4 inch skillet.

Self-basting lid provides an extra 1 inch of cooking clearance and circulates moisture for juicy, tender meat. The wide cooking surface is great for reducing sauces, and braising tough meats like short ribs, oxtail, and lamb shanks. This medium braiser is also great for one pot meals, mac and cheese, and slow roasting on cold nights in.

The light interior cleans easily, and resists odors. Our enameled cookware is compatible with gas, induction, and electric cooktops. Withstanding temperatures up to 500° Fahrenheit, this versatile braiser gives you the confidence to make anything from any cookbook. Take your cooking skills to the next level with our cerise casserole.

The tight fitting lid allows you to cover meals while cooking to lock in moisture, keeping food from scorching or drying out. Accommodates meals like lasagna, roasts, and stews. Also doubles as a dutch oven or casserole dish for other baking needs!

Compare our Backcountry Iron 2.2 quart braiser to BL17BR LODGE CAST IRON AMERICAN MADE SINCE 1896. Also compared with Le Creuset and Staub brasiers and casserole dishes.

Love this braising pan. Great heat distribution, easy clean up and not too heavy.I'd not used a braising pan before. I'll have to say you won't be disappointed in this pan.Besides braising, I use it to fry bacon, eggs, chicken fried steak, etc..Works just as good in the oven as well.Would definitely reccomend.I noticed this red hot braiser when I bought my Wasatch Backcountry Iron skillet and was completely enticed by the price. I have a couple different la creuset dutch ovens and thought a smaller more shallow version might be a good addition to my collection. It is my new obsession. The lid really does "self baste" as moisture captured in the lid is evenly dispersed back into the base. My first use was caramelizing onions and was happy to find I could cook them low and slow, checking in on them every 15-20 minutes. They did not dry out or stick to the bottom. I made a pot pie next. Perfect. Then a frittata. No stick! I am not always so careful when it comes to dishwashing and my braiser looks brand new after more than two dozen uses. Super happy I splurged and bought this beauty! This is my first experience with Back Country and their Braiser. I had bought a 3qt Lodge braiser and wanted a smaller size which they didn't have. I came across Back Country's and the color was nearly the same so I went ahead and ordered it. The braiser was packaged very well and looks great. I cooked with it several times over the Christmas holiday and it was a breeze. I have had the Lodge Cast Iron Skillets for years but recently I found out I have Hemochromotosis (Iron Overload). It was suggested that I don't use them to cook anymore which is very disappointing. I decided to purchase the enamel cast iron skillets/braisers. I had enamel dutch ovens so the transition was easy. Great product!I love mine, I’ve had it just a little over a month and there is already a chip on the lid. Pretty bummed about that.Used this Bueatiful Red color Pan to Sauté Chicken, cleansed easily!Love the color and size 3.6 qt. Holds enough for a family of 4The pan arrived with a large piece of enamel broken off the lid. Not a well made pan. Easily damaged. returned the product to Amazon. It looks beautiful but start chipping within 2 weeks.
