This pie iron is solid and well built. When you get it you will have to remove the wax and season the cast iron. It's not super difficult. I did mine with a scrubbie and hot sopay water then the oil and grill.Heavy duty and easy to use, a bit more challenging to clean. I can’t wait to use again. We made fancy “pizza pockets” with pre made dough, sauce, cheese and to[pings and they were a total hitSeasoned on BBQ for 2 days at 400 degrees. On BBQ tested hamberss, Filet mignon, salmon. Each test 1 wrapped in foil 1 buttered direct no foil. Burgers don't stick. Fish sticks. Filet no stick. Results: don't use for steak difficult to cook med. rare. Suppose practice would improve cooking skills. For sandwich test: cheese + thin sliced leftover steak. Buttered the bread. Perfect but won't hold 2 sandwiches side by side regular bread. Tested cooking on BBQ to save experimenting while camping. All in all if your campsite has a grill over the fire or briquettes....skip this item and grill meat and fish on the grill and sandwiches in a cast iron skillet on the grill. 4 stars because it works after seasoning. We loved taking this camping with us. We used it for every meal. If you’re used to cooking with cast iron it should t be too difficult for you to use. Most important thing is to season it well! We cooked cinnamon bread and apple pie using crescent roll dough. We made pizza/calzone with pizza dough. We also cooked sausages and eggs and veggies. All turned out great.Cook time took a bit of practice since you can’t see it. Using oil or butter was very important to keep for sticking. It comes coated in paraffin wax which was hard to scrub off, so we ended up putting on the grill to melt it off and scrubbed after that.Very well-made product that serves its purpose wellThis was a gift for my son and he loves it.Great pie iron! Seasoned easily, easy to clean
